Escape Lodge is a new style of friendly informal accommodation.

Escape work.  Escape the city.

The Eco-lodge Building

We aim to show that a beautiful building can blend comfortably into the Highland landscape through the use of a low-lying, traditionally influenced sensitive design incorporating local stone and wood.

Our architect is the highly experienced David Somerville

Escape Lodge Ltd is very grateful to Dundonnell Timber,
Mark Robinson (Skelbo Business Solutions/Highlands and Islands Enterprise) Highwater Scotland, Dundonnell Hotel and
James Baily dry-stane dyking for all their exceptional help and support in getting the project this far!

The Site and Buildings

Eco-lodge
Dundonnell in Wester Ross is where we propose to site an 8 bedroom Escape Lodge using natural wood and stone materials to blend the building as sensitively as possible into the landscape.

Our Site at Dundonnell, Wester Ross

This is where we plan to build Escape Lodge and the Thatched House Township.

The land is being replanted to our specification with Scots Pine and mixed native broadleaves such as Birch, Hazel and Oak.

We will landscape and care for the 11 acre site with public access paths creating a beautiful woodland for generations to enjoy.

An Teallach (Below)
One of the top mountain ranges in the UK is right on our doorstep.
Our site looks south towards this spectacular wonder of nature.

We plan to construct 8 traditional thatched stone 'bothy' style buildings.  We aim to keep these as traditionally furnished as possible, echoing the way our ancestors lived with simple furnishings and box beds.  These will be available to members of the Township Project for holidays all year round.

The township also has a service building to provide toilets, showers, and cooking facilities.  This will be a single storey building with a turf roof.
